Boston Courses

Cambridge College

Cambridge College is dedicated to adult learning.  This demographic is served with evening, weekend, and online courses.  The college was originally in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but its new campus is in Boston.  The campus is located in the Charlestown area of the city.  The facilities are state of the art and they offer classroom and laboratory space to other organizations during the day.

Travel to Boston

By Air: Boston Logan International Airport is close to the city and is served by numerous domestic and international carriers.  The airport is located in Massachusetts Bay, just outside the city.  There is a number of transportation options to and from the airport and the city.  The least expensive is public transportation, that is, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, or MBTA.  There is an on-airport shuttle between all the terminals and the Blue Line MBTA (or “T”) station.  There is also the option to take an MBTA ferry to Boston Harbor.  Taxis present a convenient option, but are relatively costly in that a one-way fare may be up to $50.  Uber and Lyft are also possibilities.

By Train: AMTRAK Acela service is available from: New York, NY; New Haven, CT; Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Wilmington, DE, and Philadelphia, PA  Other AMTRAK routes to Boston are the Northeast Regional from Virginia to Boston, and Lake Shore Limited that serves upstate New York and Massachusetts.

By Car: Of course, Boston is served by a number of interstate highways and travel to Boston is straightforward.  Nonetheless, Boston traffic is heavy and navigation is not always simple within the city.  Parking is expensive either at a hotel or close to Cambridge College.

Accommodations

Boston and Cambridge are vibrant cities and accommodation choices abound.  That being said, there is only one major hotel within a short walking distance of Cambridge College, that is the Holiday Inn Boston Bunker Hill Area hotel.  It is about a 10-minute walk to the college.  We are not recommending this particular hotel, we are simply pointing out the closest hotel.

Other suggestions:  If you wish to stay in Boston, across the Charles River, we recommend you chose a hotel close to the Orange line subway (also known as the “T”).  Taxi or ride-share to the college would be extremely slow as the bridges across the river become clogged at morning rush hour.

Other hotels in Cambridge may be found in Harvard Square and Central Square.  These locations are very vibrant with many restaurants and other attractions.  They are on the T Red line and it is simple to take the Red line to Downtown Crossing, change to the Orange line, and go to Sullivan Square, near the college.  One should allow 30 to 40 minutes travel time, although it may be shorter. Although there are hotels in the Kendall Square area, it is primarily a business area with most restaurants either catering to lunch or closing fairly early.

Boston Public Transportation

The most efficient way to travel around the city is to use the T.  A single one-way fare is $2.40, but one-day unlimited ride passes can be purchased for $11.00, or a 7-day unlimited ride pass for $22.50.  The passes are purchased as a CharlieTicket.

The closest T station to Cambridge College or the Holiday Inn Boston Bunker Hill Area hotel is the Orange line Sullivan Square  station.  A walking directions map is provided.  The Sullivan Square station is about half-way between the hotel and the college.  Both the T Orange line and the Interstate Highway (I-95) are elevated, hence the walking route passes under them.
